Fred Roseman, a Catawba County native, joined Troop 327 as a Scout in 1985 and earned the rank of Eagle in 1991. He served as Assistant Scoutmaster from 1991 - 1993. He became the Scoutmaster on his 21st birthday in 1994 and serves in this role to the present. Nearly 80 boys have earned their Eagle Rank with him serving as Scoutmaster.
Fred has been named the Lakeland District Scoutmaster of the year twice, has one the District Award of Merit, and the Claude Abernathy Award. He is a member of Wood Badge and the Order of the Arrow. He currently serves on the Council Camp Committee. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, the highest Council recognition for volunteers, in March 2023.
Fred has spent at least one full year of his life camping and has 32 weeks of summer camp experience. He and his family attend Mt. Pleasant United Methodist. He coaches basketball for the Church and also for Sherrills Ford Optimist.
He found his vocation through a Scouting, after earning the Electricity Merit Badge. This is why he's so passionate about boys earning Merit Badges so they can be exposed to many disciplines and topics. He studied electricity at CVCC and Mitchell Community College and holds electrical licenses in NC, SC, VA, FL, GA, and TX.
